belatedHAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!! also, totes not related to this, but can you guys please please please vote for my work here: [link] it's for talenthouse's design an artwork for florence and the machine. it really does mean a lot! thank you.
----------------- taiwan. japan. china. south korea. hong kong.
the azns as promised. taiwan- haha omg, this is such a train wreck. i actually started this sheet like mid last year but was kinda to lazy to finish it. i got so uninspired. my initial inspiration for tai-chan was well her name, or former name rather, Ilha Formosa. it means beautiful island in portoguese. i tried to blend both eastern and western standards of beauty (clothes wise, hence the poofiness) and had the lace and shit. but you know how when you get sugar overload from raiding the sweets buffet? that's what it ended up as. at least from my POV. but she's still a princess : )
japan- instead of going for the usual lolita, pattern loaded cliche i tried something minimalistic in colour and sillhoutte. maybe not really on the sillhoutte but at least kiku doesn't look like the taiwanese puffball. insipiration from the red-crowned crane.
china- oh i just love china, probably my second favourite, with japan being the first in the sheet. the sleeping dragon's finally waking up and being the badass mofo that he is. haha. year of the dragon inspired. but even last year my design for wang was very much red and very much dragon-y.
south korea- what kind of a fascinator is that. but it's the revised version the previous one looked like the pepsy symbol with tv antennas sticking out. haha. i deconstructed their flag, the weird black lines are actually the kwae. the colour scheme as well reflects the balance in the flag, heaven and earth. the elements as well.
hong kong- very... martial arts inspired. idk, no research now i feel really bad. but i made the design abit tomboyish. ok i really have nothing to say for this. which is odd cuz i finished rendering HK first. btw what exactly do you call people from hong kong? i know they're chinese... but is there like another name? like how people from NYC are called new yorkers?
i hope you guys like it! it's been too long. full view pls! (click download : D)
Wow, I am so impressed. I love the unique designs. All of them are very beautiful. The colors and the style of art are both so vivid and so clean... just perfect. South Korea's symbol does indeed look like the Pepsi logo haha, but nonetheless you did an outstanding job. (I only point out SK because that's where I'm from!)
P.S. People from Hong Kong are officially "Hong Kongers", though we refer to ourselves as "Hong Kongnese" when speaking casually.
how such a fantasy?
you're my idol *3*
ang ganda naman ng patos in China...RAWR.
KOREAAAAAA. NIHOOOOOOOON!
